Bachtensteene is the smallest campus and has 80 studios divided over four floors. It is located next to UCR and the Gapph Student Housing office, in the heart of Middelburg’s historic city centre.

  • Interior

    The studios have a surface area ranging between 20 m2 and 35 m2. Each studio has a bedroom, bathroom with toilet, sink and shower, and a kitchen unit consisting of storage cabinets, a sink and worktop. Kitchen equipment such as a fridge is not present, unless the previous student left it behind.

    The studios are unfurnished. Every year the Housing Affairs Council (HAC, part of UCR) holds a furniture fair called the Furniture Fund, where students can buy second-hand furniture at great prices.

    Students can also rent a complete furniture set through a company called Student Furniture Holland. Students will be informed in advance about the possibilities and the final order date.

  • Facilities

    Each floor of the Bachtensteene building has a laundry room with two washing machines and two dryers and a shared room, which is used for fun social activities.

    Do you prefer cooking with your fellow students? There is a shared kitchen on the ground floor which has no less than 20 cookers!

  • Cleaning

    Cleaning your studio is not included in the rent/service charges. The shared areas are cleaned every weekday and the windows are cleaned by a window-cleaning company. The general cleaning and window-cleaning costs are included in the service charges.

  • Studio's & floor plans

    All studios have their own letterbox and doorbell. The basic rent may vary, depending on the size of the studio. Every year, the government determines the percentage by which the rent may be increased.

    This means that the rent can be adjusted on a yearly basis. The price of the studios ranges from €353,- per month. Some studios can be more expensive. You may be eligible for housing allowance. Click here if you want more information about applying for housing allowance.
